The Governor of Abia State, Okezie Ikeazu has tested positive to Covid19, which ultimately made him resign temporarily from office, handing over state duties to his deputy Ude Oko Chukwu.
Onyebuchi Ememanka, Chief Press Secretary to the governor said in a statement, that the governor had earlier tested negative, but on undergoing another test proved positive.
Presently, the governor is self-isolating under the watchful eyes of medical personnel. It is claimed that he is in a stable condition while taking treatment in Abuja.
According to the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), Ikpeazu is among the 67 people who have tested positive to Covid19 in the state.
Due to the result of the test, there has been uncertainty among the State Executive Council, with some members being scared of the possibility of being infected.
