The first case of Coronavirus has been detected in Nigeria

The first case of Coronavirus (COVID-19) disease has been detected in Lagos, Nigeria.

This was confirmed by the Federal Ministry of Health, through the Minister, Dr. Osagie Ehanire on the 28th of February, 2020.

In a statement issued by the minister, the virus was detected in an Italian citizen who just returned from Milan, Italy on the 25th of February 2020. It is said to be that this person works in Nigeria.

The positive confirmation of the virus was carried out by the Virology Laboratory of the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, which is an agency for the Laboratory Network of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).

It is however stated that the affected patient is in stable conditions and controlled at the Infectious Disease Hospital in Yaba, Lagos.
